RECENT NEWS - MAY 2014
Namaste lovely yogi's. In November 2013 I graduated from my final yoga training in Sedona, AZ. This last course was the 300-hour Yoga Therapy Course at 7 Centers Yoga Arts Academy (one of the top 10 yoga schools in the country), and it's completion made me a qualified 500 hour yoga teacher! The highest I can go in licensing hours! I have enjoyed every single course I could at that beautiful Yoga Academy and I miss my teachers immensely... but it seems the universe wanted me to spread my wings and fly solo now for a while and without them next to me 24/7. I'll embrace it and attempt to live the yogic principles they provided to me over the years. So, as you have probably figured out, I am no longer in Sedona, AZ but can now be found in Knoxville, TN and the yoga space I have created is beautiful!!! I'm finally settled as well and now offering 90 minute public classes in the Adair Park behind my house for only $15. The type of yoga class I'll lead is up to you as a class! Let me know what you want and I'll make it happen! Ashtanga? No problem! Vinyasa Flow? You got it! Yoga Nidra? Yes please! Yin? MmMm... What ever your body and soul needs, I'll provide it to you. Check out the calendar for times and days! If you're interested in joining, contact me by shooting me an email, text or give me a call and reserve a space! I look forward to meeting you Knoxville yogis! Namaste! ♥ P.S. I truly miss you Sedona Yogis. You are always in my thoughts. I miss your smiles and your laughter and your faces in a hot yoga class, or 7 Centers class, or even at New Frontiers or on a hiking trail. I miss you I miss you I miss you. I'm sending you love every single day and I'm sending you gratitude for all you've taught me. The light within me sees and honors the light within you. ~ Ashley I completed my Medicinal Aromatherapy Certification course yesterday! I have two new oils to use this evening in the yoga classes I'm offering at Sedona Hot Yoga (4:30 and at 6:30)... will I see your sweet and curious faces there??? Come and fill up your nose and lungs with an amazing essence or two... and your heart as well with love, love, love.
![]() I am unbelievably lucky to teach a class once a week to 3-7 amazing mothers here in Sedona and the Village of Oak Creek. We meet at one of their homes every single Thursday at 10 a.m. and I have to say that this class is by far my favorite one of the week. I absolutely love to watch these strong and extremely loving mothers become even more strong and calm and collected as the weeks pass on. I am always wowed by their ability to stay focused and present despite the occasional toy drill going off near them (or on them lol) during savasana, an occasional cry in the nearby kids play room, or a little monkey crawling on their backs while in child's pose or downward dog (I sometimes don't even need to assist, the kids do it for me heehe!) I think that my favorite part is the smiling... at the end of class we are all smiling. I want to share this experience with more mothers, so I've developed the following... please tell your friends and share the love. What is a Yoga for Mom Class?I understand how difficult it is to justify paying for a babysitter as well as a yoga class each day. It is also understood how challenging it is to get together with girlfriends during the week when the children are still at home and possibly not in school. The Yoga for Mom's Yoga Class offers you an opportunity to gather your girlfriends and the children at your home and to reward yourself with yoga and meditation as the kids play together... you know you deserve it. Ashley's empathic and intuitive teaching style creates a group yoga class that is challenging, yet rewarding. Aware that each group is different; she will read the energy and dynamic of the class and present a series of postures conducive to an engaging, deeply reflective session. This yoga class covers a full range of asanas: sitting, standing, balance, forward and back bends, twists, hip openers and sun salutations. So call your friends, pick a day of the week and a time that best works for everyone, and then simply make a commitment to honor and love yourself one day a week. Not only will your yoga practice help you remain centered and present throughout the rest of the week, it will also introduce your children to the power of mantra and breath work. It is so amazing to see and hear the effect of a simple "OM"... How one moment they are laughing, playing and making noise around you, but then they suddenly become calm and reflective when they hear you chanting a simple "Om" with your girlfriends. And let us not forget the benefits to your social life as well :) Rate suggestions are based on groups of 5 women or more... groups that are smaller than 5 people, please consider adding a few dollars to cover transportation costs and aromatherapy expenses. 1 hour = $5 per mom 2 hours = $10 per mom Yoga for Mom Testimonials ❤ It has been an absolute pleasure to work with Ashley practicing yoga. She truly cares about each person in the class and tries to suit her class to each students individual needs. She is also very knowledgeable with essential oils which I find fascinating. I'm also doing poses and yoga I never thought possible. Ashley is abundant with her knowledge of yoga, her compassion for her students and her love for teaching. Thank you Ashley!!!! ! Danielle G. - 2013 (Yoga for Mom Student) ❤ One would be honored to practice with an extraordinary teacher such as Ashley. Her knowledge, commitment and passion for yoga is present in all she does and teaches. She has a gift to be able to help and guide each individual with their own yoga practice. I feel blessed to have found Blessed Yoga! ~ Ruthy B. - 2013 (Yoga for Mom Student) I'm back from my Vipassana Meditation experience and I've missed you! I'm teaching this Friday at Sedona Hot Yoga. I hope to see you there. :
I am looking forward to March and warmer weather. Not only will the gardening be amazing, but the creek will warm up and the flowers will bloom as well! On top of it all... YOGA OUTSIDE!
Outdoor classes add a different dimension to one's practice and pare yoga down to its original link with nature. "Yoga means 'union,' and when it's practiced outdoors it seems like the union with nature, humanity, and the universe is truly felt. Being outside can intensify the yoga experience in many ways, since nature inspires all the things you try to drive home with your practice — focusing awareness, breathing deeply, practicing stillness. Your first lesson will be learning to embrace rather than battle the elements. Nature can help to remind you that a breeze can deepen your breathing; the warm sun can deepen poses by making muscles more pliable, and a ladybug can invite you to focus on something small and still. Many aspects of yoga are in fact about being in the moment and at one with nature or the universe. That's why so many asanas reflect animals and nature. By putting your body into the shape of a tree or a stretching cat, by exploring the graceful wingspan of a bird or the fluidity of the Sun Salute, by breathing with the same cyclical sense as the tides or with an ocean sound, you evoke a sense of harmony, timelessness, and connection to the universe. When the classroom is outdoors, free of the mirrors and windows and designer clothes, the 'yoga scene' is left in the dust. The open space really expands everyone, and there's an instantaneous freedom you just can't replicate indoors. Let me know if you're interested in a yoga class outside and in the elements. I'll be glad to take you to some of my favorite vortex spots :) |

❤ WHAT STUDENTS SAY ABOUT ASHLEY CRUZ YOGA ❤
"From Aldea Yanapay (great school of love to children), to the incredible homely hostel la boheme, to the food at mercado san blas and at greenpoint... My 6 weeks in Cusco/Qosqo/centre/gravitational centre were all truly well balanced out by Ashley ● I have been doing yoga for five years in London, Lisbon and NYC and I was wonderfully surprised by the teacher Ashley in Cusco, Peru. From her words, to the sense of opportunity, helping, the pace, the getting everyone's names and brief "why am I here", taste for music and simply those oils... vinyasa gained a new look for me. ● You made me feel so balanced out, just when I needed that push. May your excellent work continue and your knowledge be taken further." ~ Yours, Ana Maria (portugal)
